Background

Every well run poker game uses a timed escalation of the large and small blinds. This ensures predictability, fairness and consistency from night to night. It also brings a tournament to a fair conclusion without going on for days and days. Once you have played in a structured tournament style poker game, you will not go back to a random, unstructured game.

The downside is trying to keep track of the timer and blind amounts. Most people start out with a kitchen timer or stop watch and a printed blind schedule. Losing concentration on your game is the fastest way to the loser's lounge. With multiple people at multiple tables frequently asking "what are the blinds" and "how much time is left in the round", it becomes terribly distracting. Not to mention the mess you'll have if you forget to reset the timer or if a table forgets to raise their blinds. I vowed to never put myself in that situation again. I couldn't find a quality portable dedicated hardware device to manage the games. We decided to create the Visage 300xt.

Now all players have to do is look at the Visage to find out how much time is left in the round and what the current small blind, big blind, low limit, high limit and ante values are. When the timer gets to the 2 minute warning, an audible signal is annunciated. When the timer expires, the game parameters for the next round are automatically updated. You can also program automatic breaks and color-ups.

Game Profiles

Bona Fide Gaming developed the concept of 'Game Profiles' to manage your poker tournaments. A Game Profile consists of 16 rounds. For each round, you can program the Visage to automatically break (which pauses the timer), color-up amount if applicable, small blind amount, large blind amount, low (pre-flop) limit, high (post flop) limit, and antes. This allows you to easily program the exact game you want to play.

The Visage 300xt permanently stores 4 different Game Profiles in non-volatile memory. In just a few seconds, you can have the Visage run a limit game or switch to a no limit with antes. You can have different game profiles for a 1000 chip buy in or a 10,000 chip buy in. The Visage 300xt ships with 4 popular game profiles pre-programmed into its memory. You can plug it in, select your game profile and be dealing within a minute.

The Visage only displays pertinent information. If any of the parameters are set to 0, that parameter is not displayed. This keeps the display clutter free and the important information readily at hand.

Multi-table Support

When you have a bunch of people over to play poker and people start getting knocked out of the game, what happens? Typically, side games start up. The Visage 300xt will manage up to 4 different tables simultaneously. Each table can use different round times and different Game Profiles. For instance, if the main tournament is playing a no limit, 30 minute round $10,000 buy-in game, the second table can play a limit game with 15 minute rounds and a $1500 buy-in. However you wish to structure your poker games, the Visage can accommodate.

Design

Uncompromised design sets the Visage 300xt apart from all other electronic devices. The commercial dot graphic vacuum fluorescent display is bright and bold. It can easily be seen from across the grandest of poker rooms by multiple tables. The Visage is wrapped in a sleek, custom machined anodized aluminum enclosure. The aluminum face plate and end caps are a full 1/4" thick giving the Visage a substantial, commanding presence that enhances any environment.

The simple details were not overlooked when designing the Visage. Most current electronic devices use membrane switch technology. Even the best membrane switches are imprecise, lack tactile feedback and are frustrating to use. That is why you'll never find a membrane keyboard for use on your desktop computer. We used tact switches with custom keycaps protruding through machined cutouts on the top of the enclosure. It was the right thing to do.

This obsessive attention to details extends to the Visage's accessories. The detachable tilting stand is an all anodized aluminum base with machined aluminum tilting mechanisms. The carrying case has custom die cut foam inserts that will protect the unit and its accessories regardless of how perilous the trip is to get to your game.

Beyond the Poker Room

The Visage 300xt can be enjoyed outside of the poker room. When not used as a poker clock the Visage is a messaging display. You can program up to 4 unique 32 character messages that will be displayed in rotation with the current date and time. It is a perfect way to welcome visitors to your business or to simply taunt your friend who caught a full house on the river to beat your all-in nuts flush.

The Visage is also a messaging alarm clock. With programmable messages that appear when the alarm goes off, you can wake to your own inspirational message.
